ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a skilled and creative Social Media Content Creator with extensive experience in DTC to join our e-commerce client's marketing team. You'll be working with a passionate group of people on a portfolio of DTC food brands. This role primarily focuses on editing video content provided by others to produce engaging reels and video ads for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and other social media channels. The candidate will also occasionally create original video content to support our brand’s presence. The ideal candidate is an expert video editor with a strong sense of storytelling and a deep understanding of social media trends.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Edit high-converting videos, graphics, and other assets for social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.)
- Repurpose existing creative assets into multiple formats (e.g., stories, reels, thumbnails, banner ads) tailored for each platform and audience segment
- Monitor and familiarize yourself with current social media algorithm trends around reels and understand how to rapidly execute content that leverages them, translating your knowledge of what's working in social into actionable content opportunities
- Video Editing: Edit raw video footage provided by team members or external creators using industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve) to produce trend, engaging reels, video ads, and other social media assets. Polished is NOT important for most of our content.
- Content Creation: Occasionally shoot and produce original video content, including short-form reels and promotional ads, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines
- Trend Awareness: Stay current with social media trends, platform algorithms, and audience preferences to create relevant, high-impact content
- Storyboarding & Planning: Collaborate with the marketing team to plan and refine video concepts, ensuring edited content maximizes engagement and aligns with campaign goals
- Branding Consistency: Maintain the brand’s tone, style, and messaging across all video content while optimizing for each platform’s unique requirements
- Performance Analysis: Use analytics tools (e.g., Instagram Insights, TikTok Analytics) to track content performance and refine editing strategies to boost engagement
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with content creators, graphic designers, copywriters, and marketing managers to ensure cohesive campaigns integrating edited and original video content
- Perform ad hoc administrative, business operations, and special project tasks as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- 3+ years in video editing and content creation for a DTC/Shopify/e-commerce/CPG brand
- An exceptional portfolio showcasing edited reels, video ads, or similar short-form content (original content creation is a plus)
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, or equivalent) and experience with motion graphics and audio integration
- Platform Knowledge: Strong understanding of social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.) and best practices for video formats, specifications, and engagement
- Creativity: Exceptional storytelling skills and a keen eye for visuals, pacing, and audio to transform raw footage into compelling content
- Time Management: Ability to handle multiple editing projects, meet tight deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Communication: Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with team members and incorporate feedback.
- Experience with mobile editing apps (e.g., CapCut, InShot) for quick edits.
- Knowledge of paid social media advertising and optimizing video ads for conversions.
- Basic photography or graphic design skills to enhance video content.
- Familiarity with SEO and keyword strategies for video content discoverability.
- Professional fluency in English with top-tier written, reading, and speaking skills
- Permanent access to a computer with reliable and high-speed Internet connection
- Ability to work in US Eastern time zone, Monday to Friday (8 hours per day); a 5-hour overlap with 9:00am-2:00pm ET is required
